NATURE JOURNALING IN THE WETLANDS

FREE Artown event with registration on the Lahontan Audubon Society site. Spend the morning painting en plein air at Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation's Rosewood Nature Study Area. Join artist and Lahontan Audubon volunteer Jennifer Jay for a morning of sketching, drawing, and painting in your nature journal. Jennifer will briefly discuss the practice of nature journaling before you embark out on your own to create a nature journal page that synthesizes field notes, poetry, and drawings. Take a self-paced stroll along the 220-acre wetland habitat trails, or practice sketching birds and wildlife found in the Great Basin using the 70+ taxidermy mounts within the Visitor Center. At the end of the morning, we'll regroup to share each other's observations and journal pages. By creating a nature journal, you can deepen your observations, presence, and connection to your natural surroundings. All levels of birders, artists, and writers are welcome. Ages 12+. Participants must bring their own art supplies (sketchbook/journal, pen/pencil/watercolors, binoculars). This program will be held 3 consecutive weeks to allow you to build a practice of observation. Come to one or all dates. Sign up for each date separately. https://www.nevadaaudubon.org/calendar.html
